Taking a break from our Makati City / Iloilo City life

Kate and I met at the University of San Agustin, in Iloilo. Although we shared a few classes together throughout the years, it was only in our final year that we discovered how well we got along, and that we had a shared love for travel. We were both planning backpacking trips around Philippines after graduation, and so we’d sit in cafes and pore over guidebooks, plotting our routes and our hostels and our modes of transportation. Despite our planning, we never actually crossed paths since I decided to work in Manila.

Our friendship really blossomed through Facebook messenger and there were a few shared months in Iloilo, too. Before we even set off, we made sure we discussed our goals and our intentions for the trip. We need to make sure that we’re on the same page (or at least in the same chapter) when it comes to pace of travel, our budget and the kinds of activities we’d like to do. So here's our first trip together outside Region 6.

Whale Shark Watching - Oslob, Cebu

We left Cebu City, around 7 in the morning and rode a bus going to Oslob, Cebu. Arrived Aaron's Beach Resort around 11 am. We paid 500 pesos per person for a 30 minute whale watching in the shore. Well it was a one of a kind experience for us especially for Kate. She loves beaches too much but scared to swim. Plus she was super pissed cause her video with the whale sharks wasn't saved.

Kawasan, Badian Cebu

From Oslob, we took a trike going to Kawasan Falls.

Down South 118 - Oslob, Cebu

Stayed at Down South 118 for a night before getting back to Cebu City and also the last night before we parted ways again. Hotel Cost: 3000 per night.

 Sirao Garden - Busay, Cebu

From Oslob, we went straight to Sirao Garden. Probably a 30 minute travel time from the moment we arrived Cebu Bus Terminal. Sirao Garden Entrance Fee is 30 pesos and the trike fare from Cebu to Busay is 200 per person.

Temple of Leah, Cebu City (Last stop)

Side trip from Sirao Garden to the Temple of Leah. This place was owned by Ellen Adarna's grand mother.
